A unique opportunity
The Borders Distillery started making Single Malt Scotch Whisky in 2018, 181 years after the last distillery closed. We are the first since 1837 and the last region of Scotland to have a distillery. The First and the Last.
Our distillery uses American Bourbon casks for maturing Scotch Whisky; continuing a century long relationship between two great whisky traditions.
American Cask invites you to become an owner of only 1,000 casks in an exclusive programme developed by the Spirits Network and only available from the Network. Each cask costs $3,600.

A private cask of Scotch Whisky
Ownership also includes a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) giving an American Cask owner one bottle from the first bottling of the Borders Distillery Single Malt Scotch Whisky, when it happens.
Each NFT will include an image of Scotland, many of which feature The Borders Distillery itself, and none of them repeated. One only will carry an image of golden still (below), entitling the owner to an all expenses paid trip for two people to Scotland.*
Filled with potential
Choose when to fill your cask: Spring – Memorial Day Week, Summer – Independence Day Week, Autumn – Labor Day Week, Winter – Thanksgiving week.
Once filled, your cask will be warehoused by The Borders Distillery. The first ten years of warehousing and insurance are included in the purchase price.
American Cask owners are granted access to a specially commissioned app, allowing you to monitor the development of your cask, tracking the flavour profile as your spirit gently matures.
A mature offer
After ten years the Distillery will invite you design your special label and once bottled your Single Malt Scotch Whisky will be sent to the USA under bond. Local taxes will apply. The Distillery estimates that each cask will yield somewhere between 240 and 270 bottles of 70cl at 92% Proof.
When visiting Scotland, American cask owners receive complimentary distillery tours and tastings hosted by The Borders Distillery’s expert distilling team.
